- RTJ Gaskets/Ring Joint Gaskets By wilsonpipeline.com
wilsonpipeline’s Ring Joint Gaskets are precision machined, metallic sealing rings suitable for high pressure and high temperature applications. RTJ gaskets are designed to seal by “initial line contact” or wedging action between the mating flange and the gasket. By applying pressure on the seal interface through bolt force, the softer metal of the gasket flows into the micro-fine structure of the harder flange material, creating a very tight and efficient seal. wilsonpipeline’s Ring Joint gaskets are manufactured in accordance with API-6A and ASME B16.20 specifications and come in four basic profiles: R-Oval – Ring Gasket Style R ring joint gaskets are manufactured in accordance with both API 6A and ASME B16.20 size/ratings. Available in both oval and octagonal configurations, both types are interchangeable on modern octagonal type grooved flanges. Style R Ring Joint gaskets can be manufactured in accordance with all relevant standards to suit the following flange designations: API- 6A, ASME/ANSI B16.5, MSS SP44 (ASME B 16.47 Series A) & BS 1560. Tolerances: (Inches) Width of Ring …………………………………±0.008 Height of Ring ………………………………..±0.020 Pitch Diameter ………………………………..±0.007 R-Octagonal – Ring Gasket Style R octagonal ring joint gaskets are manufactured in accordance with both API 6A and ASME B16.20 size/ratings. The RX is designed to fit the same groove design as a standard Style R, making the joints interchangeable. The modified design uses a pressure-energized effect that improves the efficiency of the seal as the internal pressure of the system increases. Tolerances:(Inches) Width of Ring ………………………………….+0.008,-0.000 Height of Ring …………………………………+0.008,-0.000 (A plus tolerance of 0.008 inches for width and height is permitted, provided the variation in width or height does not exceed 0.004 inches throughout its entire circumference) OD of Ring ……………………………………..±0.020,-0.000 Angle of 23°……………………………………..±1/2° Note: Only Rings RX82 through RX91 have a pressure passage hole through the cross section. Center line of hole is located on the mid-point of the width flat. Hole diameter shall be as follows: RX82 through RX85………………………….0.06” RX86 and RX87………………………………..0.09” Rings RX88 through RX91………………….0.12” BX – Ring Gasket Style BX ring joint pressure energized gaskets are manufactured in accordance with API 6A and are designed for use on pressurized systems up to 20,000 PSI. When correctly fitted, the style BX gasket allows virtual surface-to-surface contact of the flange faces, which means that the gasket is fully trapped on both the inner and outer diameters. All BX gaskets incorporate a pressure balance hole to ensure equalization of pressure that may be trapped in the grooves. Tolerances:(Inches) Width of Ring …………………………………+0.008,-0.000 Hole Size ……………………………………….±0.02 Height of Ring ………………………………..+0.080,-0.000 OD of Ring ……………………………………..+0.000,-0.006 Angle of 23° …………………………………..±1/4° One pressure passage hole required per ring on centerline. A plus tolerance of 0.008 inches for width of ring and height of ring is permitted, provided the variation in width or height does not exceed 0.004 inches throughout its entire circumference. NOTE: Radius of the ring shall be 8% to12% of the ring height. These basic shapes are used in a variety of applications with pressures up to 20,000 PSI. The dimensions are standardized and require specially grooved flanges by where a corresponding “R” or “BX” number is assigned for pipe size and pressure class for gasket identification. To ensure cost effectiveness and reliability, wilsonpipeline’s CNC automation and state-of-the-art coordinate measuring systems provide reliable benchmarks for our on-going quality control operations. - Serrated Gaskets (Kammprofile Gaskets) By wilsonpipeline.com
Serrated Gaskets (Kammprofile Gaskets) are machined from solid metals in a variety of shapes. Serrated Gaskets are designed for high pressure, high temperature or highly corrosive applications by selecting the most suitable material and shapes. Serrated Gaskets are made of many kinds of metal. There are SS304 Serrated gasket, SS304L serrated gasket, SS316 serrated gasket, SS316L serrated gasket, carbon steel serrated gasket, copper serrated gasket, tinplate serrated gasket etc. Serrated gaskets can also be made of some special type of materias. The metal of serrated gasket is based on the temperature, preesure and liquid. Serrated Gaskets (Kammprofile Gaskets) consist of a metal core, stainless steel with concentric grooves on both sides. A sealing layer is usually applied on either side and depending on the service duty. The material for this layer can be expanded graphite, PTFE, asbestos free gasket sheeting materials or some soft metal. It can be used without sealing layers to provide an excellent sealing but there is a risk of flange surface damage especially at high seating pressure. Serrated Gaskets (Kammprofile Gaskets) are the preferred gasket when improved performance at low seating stresses is required. Serrated Gaskets features excellent anti-blow-out properties linked with the reliability of a solid metal-to -metal seal combined with a soft sealing face to provide a tighter joint. It is particularly suitable for applications where high temperature, pressures and fluctuating conditions are encountered. Non-metal cover layers ensure that flanges are not damaged even at extreme loads. This gasket is an ideal replacement of jacketed gaskets for heat exchangers, vessels, reactors and various flange connections. - Kamprofile Gaskets By wilsonpipeline.com
Kamprofile Gaskets are manufactured utilizing a precision machined serrated insert sealing element with V-like cut grooves designed to entrap a sealing compound to create many inpidual seals across the face of a flange. The sealing element can be used stand alone in the case of a tongue and grove application or can incorporate a centering ring, either fixed or loose depending on the specific application. Kamprofile Gaskets offered by wilsonpipeline are available in three profiles. The components can be produced from virtually any machine-able material and can incorporate a variety of sealing faces selected based on media and temperature compatibility. Features & Benefits Of Kamprofile Gaskets •Tolerant of inconsistent bolt torqueing or installation errors •Rigid Construction makes them easy to install •Low seating stress results in minimal damage to flange •Small thickness of sealing layers allows for minimal fugitive emission •Unlimited shelf life •Can not be over compressed •High Seal Integrity •Available in a variety of materials Kamprofile Gaskets Style L profiled gaskets are commonly used for applications involving gaseous materials and high temperature differences in the inner and outer rings. Kamprofile Gaskets Style TG profiled gaskets are most often used with tongue and groove and male and female flanges. Kamprofile Gaskets Style F profiled gaskets are made for flat or raised face flanges and designed with built in centering rings. Sealing Face Materials • PTFE • Ceramic • Flexible Graphite • Stainless Steel Sealing Element / Centering Ring Materials • Stainless Steel: 316/316L, 410, etc • PTFE Coated Carbon Steel: 347, 625, etc Source: wilsonpipeline Pipe Industry Co., Limited (www.wilsonpipeline.com)
